Please take note, all of the new foals will now be re numbered in accordance with the numbers shaved on their sides. These numbers are assigned by the farmer before they leave Canada and used as identification as they cross the border. These numbers will grow out in time and are not permanent. We've found that this method of identification produces less stress and no pain for the foals. New current photos will be posted to the website www.foalrescue.com as soon as possible.

The foals like flowers are beginning to blossom, they are very tired and a little dehydrated from the trip but as we add water and rest we can see their personalities come into bloom. Number 16, the larger black percheron filly, has stepped into the roll of lead mare, she is quite fair in her discipline of any of foal, who in her mind, has stepped out of line. She is very quick with her hind legs though she shows no sign of aggression to any of her newly found human friends, in fact she is quite pleasant and curious. Number 8, the large black and white paint colt, is making friends already, he is very curious and has discover he loves being scratched. It was amazing for us to watch as his timid-ness at being touched turned into trust as he felt the pleasure of gentle hands. Speaking of trust, while photographing the entire herd we noticed #7, a small chestnut paint, was often watching us from a distance. As if he was speaking with his blue eyes, saying, " I want to loved I just don't trust you yet". We are sure he is waiting for just the right person who can earn his trust and then he too will blossom.

To see more stories about Blossoming, please take a look at our book, Equine Angels: Stories of Rescue, Love and Hope. In this book the families tell their stories about how the foals they've adopted through EARS have changed their lives. We know you will enjoy it. You can find the book on our websites as well as in local book stores. If its not there, ask for it!

Please come back often as we continue share our stories of the foals as they continue their rescue journey. Also, please feel free to drop us a note at followthefoals@shezanifty.com we would love to hear from you.
